I’ve finished up the Guerlain liquid eyeliner, which I have done a full review awhile back here. All my thoughts are still the same, in case you are wondering: great formula, but not the easiest one to use. As a reward to myself (you know what I mean, finishing up a makeup item is quite an achievement), I picked up the Sisley So Intense Eyeliner, which I have heard some good reviews about in the beauty community.
And..let me just say, after a month of trial and more trials, I don’t think it’s worth the money. Why? You ask, well, please hear me out.
The Sisley So Intense eyeliner comes with felt tip, yep, not the usual brush tip applicator that I prefer. Naturally, with felt tip, it’s a bit more difficult to get an ultra thin and precise wing. But that didn’t bother me as much, because occasionally, I do want to rock that thick, intense black eyeliner look. What bothers me is that the felt tip is rather stiff, so when I try to get it really close to my lash line, it irritates my eyelids quite a bit. Kind feels like using a not so soft eyeshadow brush doing the smudge motion along the lash line. Not too happy about it… especially given it’s a luxury item, but doesn’t feel that luxury.
Even though it’s called So Intense eyeliner, I don’t think it’s intense enough. Yes, it has an intense black color pay off (as you can see from the zoom in photo below), but the liquid is not distributed smoothly when drawing the line, which results me needing to go back a few times to get a solid line.
Here is a quick swatch of the eyeliner on my hand, you can see I’m not able to draw a smooth, all black line, which is exactly what happens on the lids. And let me remind you, this eyeliner has only been used for less than a month. So it’s not an issue of the product running out.
Also, this probably only happens to me. But the package of the liner is quite slipper, which makes it so difficult to uncap once you have closed it properly! I don’t know if it’s because I have extraordinary slippery hands or what, every morning (I’m not even kidding!), I literally need to wrap a towel around the cap in order to twist it off. And for someone that’s always in a rush in the morning, having to go through that trouble is pretty annoying.
I know I’m pretty much ranting through the entire post, but still, I’m not saying it’s a bad eyeliner. It has nice staying power, doesn’t smudge on me easily (though it’s not the waterproof/smudge proof liner either), unless I accidentally rubbed my eyes. And once the liner is done, it does look intensely black and is comfortable to wear all day long. Also, being Sisley, the eyeliner claims to contain some good ingredients such as Vitamin Peptide, wild rose extract and etc., which suppose to give you fuller lashes in the long run. I don’t see any difference in my lashes so far, but it never hurts to have good ingredients in an eyeliner right?
All I’m saying is that, if you are an eyeliner junkie like myself, and are on the hunt of a luxury liquid eyeliner to treat yourself, the Sisley so intense eyeliner wouldn’t be my first recommendation. The Tom Ford Eye Defining Pen is still the best in my book, and is much more worth the splurge.
