Old & New Haircare Favorites

old & new haircare favorites

About two months ago, I bleached my hair for the very first time in my life (for real!), which of course resulting in them being all fried and dried up, which calls for an upgrade of my haircare game. I have therefore, started looking for heavy duty products that can give back some shine and life to the hairs. Today, after quite a bit of experiment, I’m reporting back on some old & new favorites that seem to do the trick.

Tangle Teezer for Thick & Curly Hairs

Tangle Teezer for Thick & Curly Hairs Detangle Brush Review

I have been loving Tangle Teezer for a few years now, it’s one of those products that once you have used it for the first time, you start wondering how did you manage to live without it before. (I switched between Tangle Teezer and the Wet Brush, and have come to a conclusion that Tangle Teezer works better for me.)

Right after my bleach, I learned Tangle Teezer now has a version designed for thick & curly hairs, which is exactly my hair type. I jumped on it immediately, and oh boy, IT IS god sends! The original Tangler Teezer is nice, but this one is perfection. Because of the longer teeth, it detangles my hairs faster and painless, I have also noticed that it pulls off less hairs comparing to the original version. Totally saved my lifeless dry hairs and make them so much more manageable. If you have thick and curly hairs, do yourself a favor, and pick up this one.

And if I may digress just a bit, this particular color combination is just dreamy -bright yellow and pastel purple, literally my favorite colors – brings me happiness every time I use it. It is exclusive on the Tangle Teezer website, which is where I got mine.

Tangle Teezer for Thick & Curly Hairs vs. Original Compact

In comparison, the Tangle Teezer for thick & curly hairs brush has noticeably longer teeth than the original one.

Kérastase Resistance Ciment Thermique

I never used hair heat protector in the past, because I don’t often use iron wands, and to be honest, I’m just too lazy to add an extra step. But after the bleach, I do notice my hairs become more fragile, and adding a bit of heat protector makes me feel less guilty when I use hair dryers.

So far, it’s beeing doing a great job. My hairs are much less frizzy and a bit softer when I put this one before hair dryers. Also, as pretty much all Kérastase products, it has a lovely scent to it, cannot complain.

Kérastase Chronologiste Parfum Oil

Ok, in all honesty, I bought this because of the scent. From the first time my hair stylist used this on my freshly cut hair, I have been obsessed. It has a really mysterious, slightly sexy, slightly sultry, and a tiny bit masculine smell. I have never smelled something quite like this before. But this is more than just an amazing scent in a bottle, my hair actually loves this oil. It softens, nourishes and tames my hair, but doesn’t weigh them down at all. A little goes a long way.

In terms of packaging, it’s not my favorite as the bottle is really heavy, not travel friendly at all. I usually pump some into a muji travel container to bring with me.

Living Proof 5-in-1 Styling Treatment

This is an oldie but a goodie. I have reviewed this on the blog in greater details here and here. Over the years, I have tried many treatment/styling hair products, but nothing tops the Living Proof 5-in-1 styling treatment in my opinion. It delivers everything it says on the bottle and more: treats damaged hair, prolongs the style, adds a bit of volume, and smells great. I’m just so much happier when this is back in my life.
