If you know me in real life, you would most likely notice two things about me: 1. I like doing facial masks, and 2. Honey has a special place in my heart (aside from the fact that I drink honey almost every morning with rare exceptions). So when I see my these two of favorite things combined in the Farmacy Honey potion renewing antioxidant hydration mask, I grabbed it from the Sephora shelf so fast that I didn’t even see the price. Though luckily, this is a very reasonably priced mask in my opinion, as it turns out.
Let me first quickly address the package, because this is the epitome of face mask package done right. It’s hosted in a heavy glass jar that’s in hexagon shape (just like the beehive, clever, isn’t it?), with a wooden cap. It comes with a metal spatula that’s meant to be used to scoop out the mask, and the spoon is magnetically attached to the cap so you will never lose it. Hallelujah!
The mask has a rich honey smell (not the kind of honey that has been diluted and syrupy, I’m talking about natural, rich, thick honey that I prefer), which is very soothing and calming. Consistency wise, this mask is different from any other masks I have tried. It’s very thick and doesn’t spread out as easily, you would really need to press on and apply a bit of force on your fingers to massage it into the skin. Upon initial contact, the mask warms up on the skin – not tingling, not burning, but a luxurious, calming warm sensation that I feel immediately tackles any irritations I have going on on the skin, and the mask transforms into a white, rich cream. Absolutely a lush experience! The warm sensation keeps going on for a few minutes, and as the mask absorbs into the skin, you would see the it turning from white cream to a more translucent gel consistency. When the white cream completely disappears, you know it’s ready to wash off.
It’s recommended to keep the mask on for 10-15 mins, but I actually like to keep it on for at least 20 minutes, because it feels so nice and soothing on the skin. A masking session with this while watching Friends on netflix is literally my favorite Friday night (or to be real, every night) routine. After rinsing it off with water, my skin always feels richly nourished, hydrated, soft and glowy. It reminds me a lot of what it feels like to slathering on the La Mer moisturizing cream after my skin freaks out from weather changes or a restless red eye flight. And of course, this mask is only 1/10th of the La Mer price tag. This has quickly become my go-to mask whenever I feel my skin is stressed, tired, dehydrated, irritated and just in general, not in a happy place. To say I’m obsessed with this mask is probably an understatement.
So there it is, my one-page long love letter to the Farmacy honey potion renewing antioxidant hydration mask. If you feel in need of an at-home skin pampering session, drop by Sephora and give it a try.
