I picked up a few new beauty bits during my recent holiday in Bangkok, what a surprise, right? Even though I now own way more beauty products than I ever need for my entire life, testing out new ones still makes me uber excited and want to squeal, especially when some of them turn out to be as good as you expected, or even better!
Erborian BB Cream
I spotted this little guy in a last minute visit to the mothership, aka. Sephora. Every country’s Sephora tend to carry different brands, so every time when I travel to a place where Sephora has presence, it’s in my to-do list to check out the brands I cannot find in Singapore (of course now I bought it, Sephora Singapore also carries it…). This Erborian BB cream was the first thing I laid my eye on in Sephora Bangkok, I have heard so many great things about it in Tiffany’s video from makeupbytiffanyd, plus it’s a miniature travel size (15ml)! #ihaveaproblemwithanythingminituresized
So of course, I added it to my shopping cart right away. However, after testing it for a few weeks now, I would say it’s not my favorite base product out there. It has decent coverage for a BB cream, goes on smoothly and evenly, leaves a semi-matte velvety finish, which is not all that common in the world of BB cream – I haven’t tried the NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint yet, so cannot compare if they are similar.
It looks beautifully when first applied, but after 3-4 hours of wear, I did notice it starts to settle into the dry patches on my face. I have even tried mix it together with a drop of Vintner’s Daughter facial oil, which helped alleviate the problem but I can still spot the dry spots. By the end of the day, I cannot wait to take it off my face. By the way, I don’t even have particularly dry skin, I’m more of a combination skin type. So I think it may not work that well for people with dry to very dry skin, but can be super awesome for combination to oily skin, as the finish is very natural and light.
NARS Gina Blush
I go through phases with NARS blush, and recently, I have been loving them again. So getting the shade “Gina” was already in my plan even before I landed in Bangkok. I found this in Eve and Boys, which by the way is my favorite place to shop beauty products in Bangkok (you HAVE TO visit this store if you are in Bangkok and are a makeup junkie like me)- not only does it carry a wide range of drugstore brands that are almost impossible to find in physical store in Asia (e.g. Makeup Revolution, NYX, elf, milani and etc.), it also sells luxury makeup products in much lower price than department store (we are talking about at least 20-30% cheaper!).
Anyway, I have been waiting to get my hands on this blush for a long time, and I’m so happy it hasn’t disappointed me. It’s a unique true tangerine shade, does not have even a slight trace of pink or peach, and stays true to the pan on my face throughout the day without oxidizing, which is amazing!!! And I’m really digging the satin matte texture, which doesn’t emphasize pores and seems to make my skin looks smoother.
Bobbi Brown Art Stick
This is love at first swatch, cannot believe I waited for so long to try it out, it’s just amazing! A lot of products claim to be multi-tasker, but very few does it well. The Bobbi Brown Art Stick? It’s an exceptional two-in-one product, exceptional! I’ve been really enjoying using it as a blush for a natural flushed look, then double it up as a lipliner + lipstick. It’s (so) creamy and pigmented at the same time, goes on ultra smoothly, one swipe gives you full opacity and doesn’t dry out my lips whatsoever, what’s more? It lasts on my cheeks for more 8 hours with a little bit of help from Urban Decay all-nighter setting spray. Pure love! I have already have my eyes set on the color “bare”, pretty sure my collection of the art stick will grow very fast.
