So here is my confession, I have a slight obsession with acid based toners in recent years, because in comparison to all the other countless toners I have tried, they seem to deliver visible difference and one may see measurable results. After many experiments and testing, I’m here to share my top 3 acid toners that range in different strength spectrum, and should be suitable for all skin types.
The Pixi Glow Tonic, how can anyone talk about acid toner without mentioning this, really? It’s my introduction to the wonderful world of acid toners, not just because of its budget friendly price point, but also because it’s very gentle yet still makes a noticeable difference. I’ve gone through many bottles of this, in 100ml size, in 250ml, and now in the 500ml up-sized version. It’s my fall back safe bet, and whenever I have a friend that’s keen to switch up their skincare routine, I always start by asking “but, have you tried the Pixi Glow Tonic?” My love for this product hasn’t wavered over the year, it doesn’t cause irritation even when my skin was drier than usual (if you are in retinol treatment, probably want to use with caution though), and brings clarity and glow to the face that I cannot never get enough of.
The Dr Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Extra Strength Daily Peel, as the name suggests, is more advanced, stronger toner that is great for travel. I have reviewed this here in the past, and still swear by it. If you are already familiar with acid toners, and now looking for something to amp up your skincare game, willing to invest a bit more, this is a good one to look into.
The Biologique Lotion P50, I know I’m so late to the game, but it really is the best, isnt’? Granted, it’s a strong acid toner, my face turns tomato red every single time with a bit of burning sensation, which goes away after 15-20 mins, but on my word, what a big difference it makes in just one use! I wake up with tighter skin the next morning, clearer, smoother and seriously, I think “rejuvenated” might be the appropriate and accurate word to describe it, as dramatic as it sounds. I’m only using it 2-3 times a week, since started using the Drunk Elephant A-Passioni Anti-Wrinkle Cream rather religiously (3-4 times a week). I’m 100% going to get the full size next time I’m going to US.
So here you go, the 3 acid toners I absolutely love and would recommend to anyone that’s interested in this category of products. If you are new to acid and would prefer to test out your skin’s tolerance level, Pixi Glow Tonic is the one I would suggest to start with, the Dr Dennis Gross is a solid middle ground, which is not too strong but quick results, and eventually the infamous lotion P50, to say it’s a miracle worker is no exaggeration.
