I seem to be in a huge lipstick/lipgloss moment in the past one or two months, I mean, the amount of products I have added to my stash in a short amount of time is almost shameful (I say “almost”, because I always justify my beauty addiction at the end).

NYX soft matte lip cream in Cannes was something I have been wearing non-stop for weeks in June, it’s such an easy everyday color: a slightly deep nude which leans more towards the orangey and peachy side on my pigmented lips (rather than the muted mauve as described on NYX website). And I really like the formula, which sits in between a traditional lipgloss and a liquid lipstick, it dries down to matte finish and feels really light on the lips – you can barely feel it’s there for the most part, lasts 3-4 hours with drinking and eating, non-drying and non-sticky. Just as the name suggests, it’s a soft matte cream. I have a full review on this here, in case you are interested. If you like the idea of liquid lipstick, but not ready to commit 100%, I highly recommend give this NYX one a whirl and see how you feel about it.

ColourPoP Ultra Satin Lip in Echo Park is my latest addiction. I went through a great length to get my hands on this (which involves a nice friend who basically volunteered to be my mule and carried all my beauty purchases from the US back to Singapore!), and I have to say it’s worth all the efforts, at least on my part 🙂 It’s a spot on gorgeous “warm peachy nude”, quite similar to my natural lip color, but peachier and darker. It’s the kind of shade that I think would look fabulous on all skin tones, and suitable for all occasions, in other words, a great everyday color – you can never have too many of those, am I right? The formula is another big plus – it’s very hydrating, not even a tiny bit of drying, can be easily reapplied throughout the day if needed. Lasting power wise, it’s quite similar to the NYX soft matte lip cream on me, about 3-4 hours with drinking and eating. It does transfer to glasses when drinking, but doesn’t slip around – it’s another formula that sits in between pigmented lipgloss and liquid lipstick. ColourPoP now starts shipping internationally, so if you are a beauty junkie like me, our urge to try out this beauty line is finally answered!

Speaking of lipgloss, I haven’t been a huge lover in the past, but there are 3 that have recently become my handbag stable. Tarte Tarteist Glossy Lip Paint in goals is another stunning pinky nude, yes, I’m apparently in the nude phase. Comparing to your usual lipgloss, the Tarte glossy lip paint is much more pigmented – so pigmented that you can totally wear this by itself, which is actually my preferred way of using it. The high shine, the perfect nude shade, and the comfortable wear makes it an ideal handbag lip product.

On the days I’m wearing a matte lip product but just in the mood for a bit of shine, I like to top it up with the Chantecaille Brilliant Lipgloss in Lucky, which has been a long time favorite, a unique golden pinky peach color with some golden shimmer running through it that makes your lips look fuller.

Smith & Cult lip Lacquer in Her Name Bubbles, well,  first of all, I think I need to give it a big thumb up just for the name. Secondly, the formula is really luxurious, it feels like a combination of gloss and cream, softens the lips, blurs over lip lines and leaves a high shine for hours, seriously, its last power for a lipgloss is very impressive – I can wear it easily for 3 hours with constant drinking. The shade Her Name Bubbles is a classic cotton candy pink color, but shows up on me redder than swatched on hand. A great one to throw on if you need to take a break from all the matte liquid lipsticks.
