In the past few months, I have been loving not one, but three great daytime moisturizers with SPF protection, which come as a surprise to me, as not that long time ago, I remember finding a good moisturizer with SPF has been quite a struggle. I thought I would share my current favorite, in case any of you are also looking for something in this category.
There is probably one application left in the tube, it’s my most used daytime moisturizer of the bunch in these few months (very well loved, as you can see from its beat up cap). It’s brilliant multi-purpose product, especially if you have normal to dry skin (though if you have oily skin, I suspect you may not like it as much, as I would classify it as a rather heavy duty moisturizer).
On the days I’m in a rush, I use it as a 3-in-1 product: moisturizer, sunscreen and makeup primer. The texture of this moisturizer is on the heavy side, and you do need to work it into the skin by applying with a bit of force, and give it a quick massage. It doesn’t leave any white cast, and certainly has no sticky residue on the skin, which makes it a great moisturizer before foundation. SPF50+ also ticks the box for me as far as sun protection goes, which means I don’t need a separate sun screen on top of it if I know I’m not going to have much sun exposure for the day.
I also need to give the product a big thumb up for its simple yet functional package! The squeezy tube makes it a great travel companion, I have been taking it literally to all the trips I have had this year. After I have finished my pile of “need-to-be” finished daytime moisturizers, I would definitely pick up another one. It’s us lazy girls’ best friend!
Another lazy girls’ savoir! What can I say? I love my multi-purpose products, or any products that can cut down my get ready time in the morning.
Comparing to the Alpha-H protection plus daily essential moisturizer, the Josie Maran one takes a bit of get used to. I was put off by its stickiness at the first few times, but the more I use it, the more I grow to like it. It’s quite similar to a traditional sunblock in terms of the texture, which is neither cream, nor gel, and does require more rubbing to get it fully absorbed into the skin. It does leave a white cast right after initial application, but fades away pretty quickly and disappears completely in about 1 minute.
This moisturizer also offers sufficient sun protection at SPF 47 (even though a rather odd number to have, which I believe is due to the sun block properties are all natural based), I don’t apply additional sunscreen on top of it. It packs a bunch when it comes to moisturizing, thanks to the argan oil that’s infused in the product. It’s my go-to daytime moisturizer during the weekend for a no makeup face. What makes this moisturizer stands out from the rest is its glow inducing effect. It gives a natural and beautiful radiant glow that lasts all day on me. Every time when I’m wearing it, I have someone asks me what highlighter I’m using.
However, similar to the Alpha-H protection plus daily essential moisturizer, if you have oily skin, probably will find it a tad greasy and slippery on the skin.
Estee Lauder DayWear is a recent discovery for me, I have had this jar of deluxe sample for quite a few months, but always forgot to use it. Out of all the three moisturizers, this is probably the only one I would recommend to absolutely anyone, regardless of their skin types. It’s moisturizing enough to keep my skin feeling hydrated for a whole day, but not feeling even a tiny bit of heaviness or greasiness. It’s just a good basic, solid, gets-job-done moisturizer.
The product has a light green tint of color to it, which I’m not going to lie, is one of the reasons I wanted to give it a try – it brings me joy every time I look at it! And unlike the other two moisturizers I mentioned above, which have no noticeable scent, this one has a light fresh cucumber scent, which I personally love and feel it makes the moisturizer more enjoyable to use in the morning. Nothing to complain, really.
Only thing to note is that it only has SPF 15, which by no means provides enough sun protection, so I do layer a separate sunscreen on top of it. But because the moisturizer sinks into skin quickly and nicely, I haven’t experienced any problem with putting sunscreen over it.
Any other daytime moisturizers with SPF that I should try?
