I’ve been taking a serious hibernation during the last month (and part of this month), the combination of holiday, business review & business planning and of course, my nature laziness, is dragging down my energy to write new posts. But anyway, glad to be back!
I thought the first post of the year should be rounding up all the goodies I have enjoyed thoroughly in 2015, so here I am, talking about my favorite skincare products in 2015.
It was a great year of discovering new skincare products: cleansing balm and facial oils being the two most outstanding and exciting discoveries. I’ve completely changed my skincare routine, especially night time routine, and they have delivered nothing but awesome results.
Why it took me so long to get on the cleansing balm bandwagon? I don’t know, I was living in the cave I’m guessing?! This is not the first cleansing balm I have tried in 2015, but definitely the one I loved the most.
I started with Elemis Pro-Collagen cleansing balm, which came in a Elemis discovery kit which I ordered a while back, felt in love with it upon the first application, and thought it’s not possible to have another cleansing balm top this one. Obviously, I was wrong. I cannot quite put my fingers on what’s better about Emma Hardie cleansing balm than the Elemis one, except it feels more rich and luxurious, and my skin feels softer after wash.
Now I’m hooked on it, I think it’s going to be really difficult for me to go back to the traditional cleanser, especially in the morning, nothing wakes me up like a good cleansing balm. They are not too harsh so you don’t have to worry about over wash your face, but effective enough to make you feel refreshed and clean.
This is my hands down favorite spray toner of all time! I find it works better than any high-end toners I have tried. It hydrates the skin, has no strong scent, sprays out fine and even mist, and adds a tiny bit of glow to the skin, and top it up, wallet friendly price. I love to keep it in my gym bag and spray it on after workout. It goes straight to my “Sephora 20% off shopping list”, yep, I start that list very early.
Probably the best toner I have used in a very long time. It has 5% Glycolic Acid, but unlike many other Glycolic Acid products I have tried, this toner is not harsh to my skin at all – I have never experienced any irritation since started using this. To give you an idea, I always feel slightly burned when using the AHA Liquid gold toner, which also has Glycolic Acid as one of its main ingredients. I cannot tell if it’s giving me any glow, but I’ve been thoroughly enjoying using it every night in the past few months.
On a side note, Pixi skincare has been my favorite drugstore skincare brand in 2015. I have heard amazing things about their products, and really liked the ones I have tried so far. Definitely a brand I’ll be trying more products this year.
This is probably the first eye cream I actually liked and can see a difference. There is a full dedicated post here. Have been using it since I got my hands on it, now I’m almost out of it, I can really see my under eye area is more plumped and the fine lines are less noticeable. But I probably won’t rush to repurchase it right away, because there are a few other eye creams in the market I’ve been dying to test out.
The product I have raved the most in the blog, it has truly been life changing for me. Ever since discovered it last May, I have added facial oil to my daily skincare routine, and never looked back. Everything I said in my initial post about this product still stands true, and I still love it the most out of all the oils I have in my stash. An expensive product, but I would not hesitate even a second to repurchase.
I came across this through cultbeauty’s best of 2015 beauty bag, and cannot live without it ever since. I adore the whole idea behind the product line, which is that you can customize your oil serum/concentrate based on your skin needs – they have a wide range of oils, and each one of them addressing specific skin concerns: hydrating, fine lines, sensitive, hyper-pigmentation, radiance… you name it, they have it. I also have a full review about the product here.
After about one month of daily use of the radiance (Green Tea +Lemongrass) concentrate, my skin is getting more radiant, looking much healthier and less dull. Highly recommend this if you are also into using oils to improve your skin.
On the days I’m not using Vintner’s daughter active botanical serum, I’m using this Omorovicza night cream. Though it’s only 20ml (came in a Omorovicza discovery kit, I know, I have a thing for discovery kit…), it has lasted me for quite a long time.
This is another product I cannot tell exactly what’s good about it, but every time when my skin is angry or confused from traveling and lack of sleep, this night cream will get it sorted out in 2 days. It’s rich in texture but doesn’t feel heavy or greasy, absorbs nicely and gives you glowy healthy skin the next morning. I would say this is my favorite out of all the Omorovicza products I have tried so far, including their cleansing foam, illuminating day cream and Hungary mist. I have since purchased a full size jar and very looking forward to digging into it.
It’s definitely the daytime moisturizer I enjoyed the most in 2015. Is it just me or a good solid daytime moisturizer is actually more difficult to find than a night time one, especially for places like Singapore, where you need to deal with boiling hot, humid weather? This moisturizer ticks all the boxes for me: lightweight, doesn’t feel greasy, moisturizing, and provides sun protection. It also has one bonus benefit – it adds luminosity to my skin, and the glow lasts the whole day! Cannot say anything bad about this!
What’s your skincare winner in 2015?
